DOLPHIN - Coryphaena hippurus

Also known as "Mahi-Mahi", or "Dorado", these golden gamesters are here in force from May through September. Excellent table fare. Many of our customers bring their own ultra-lights, or fly rods to catch these easily fooled fish. Bigger fish can weigh up to 45 pounds, but we keep a stand of light rods on the boat for the smaller school size fish. Fun for the whole family.

Certain porpoises are also known as dolphins, but these are mammals, not fishes. In addition to its brilliant coloration, the dolphin strikes explosively, fights frantically, and performs beautifully in the air. The attack of a dolphin school at a trolled bait is one of the top thrills of Gulf Stream Fishing.
